Ferran Torres left Manchester City to join Barcelona in January 2022, just 18 months after signing for the Sky Blues, but his agent revealed he nearly joined Juventus before making the switch to the Etihad Stadium in 2020.
The 22-year-old made 43 appearances in all competitions for City, scoring 16 goals with four assists, but he wanted out of the club midway through his second season and returned to Spain.
Hector Peris Ros said Torres “was very close” to signing for Juve and was looking for a new house in Turin, but City ended up hijacking the move after the deal fell through.
He told Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness: “I felt I owed Juve for Ferran Torres. Summer 2020, Torres was due to leave Valencia and was very close to Juve. We were even already looking for a house in Turin. Then the two clubs didn’t agree and Torres went to City, before returning to Spain, to Barça.”
Torres has gone on to make 38 appearances in all competitions for Barca, scoring nine goals with seven assists, so he’s not been the most prolific back in Spain. This season, the 22-year-old has scored two goals with one assist from 12 games, so Juve might feel they’ve dodged a bullet.

Chelsea and Manchester United are reportedly keeping tabs on Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie.
Since joining Juventus, McKennie has flickered between being a regular starter and more of a squad player. This season, McKennie has found himself more involved in the first-team squad, and his performances are now attracting the interest of multiple clubs around Europe.
The sports journalist Fabio Caressa has discussed the importance of Dusan Vlahovic to the current Juventus team, insisting they would have a poorer campaign without him.
He said via Tuttojuve:
“We talked about a struggling Vlahovic, but this year, he has already scored a lot of goals. If it had not been for him, Juve’s situation would have been even more difficult.
“I think that Vlahovic too has had to adapt to the new reality and I think he is overcoming the physical problems that he was bringing with him from his groin. lateral, which are quicker and drier. Before, it only went vertically as a race. It is improving and if it improves it becomes even more decisive.”
Juve FC Says
Vlahovic is one of the shining lights we have now, and his goals have often saved us from embarrassing situations.
We want more from him and his teammates, but he deserves praise for scoring despite having to feed on scraps in many games.

Recently, reports seemed to suggest the end was near for Leonardo Bonucci as a Juventus player.
The defender is one of the longest-serving members of this Juve team and also captains the group.
At 35, injuries have started taking their toll on him and the defender is not playing as often as he did before.
That seems to suggest Juve is planning for life without him and some reports even suggested he could be on his way out of the club in January.
Max Allegri had to debunk those rumours in his press conference yesterday and a report on Tuttomercatoweb reveals the centre-back could even sign a new Juve deal.
His current contract expires in 2024, but Juve could extend it for another year to show their support for him.
Juve FC Says
Bonucci has been a key player for us for a long time and the defender remains an important presence in the current side.
However, it makes little sense to offer him a new deal considering that his current one will take him to 37.
Now is the time to search for a replacement for him instead of handing him an extension.

A fresh report in the last 48 hours has now hinted Juventus legend Leonardo Bonucci could join Tottenham Hotspur.
Sporting director Fabio Paratici oversaw one of the busier summers at Spurs in recent memory with the Italian completing a plethora of serious moves.
The Lilywhites completed agreements for Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Clement Lenglet, Djed Spence, Destiny Udogie and a permanent deal for Cristian Romero – yet they could add even more to their ranks.

Juventus and Massimiliano Allegri will reportedly use the five league games before the World Cup break to decide who has a future at the club and who doesn’t.
La Gazzetta dello Sport details how the Bianconeri are planning ahead for the future and want to make a number of clear evaluations on their players before the World Cup in Qatar kicks off next month, which’ll finish just before the January transfer window opens up.
The first situations Juventus are concerned about are Juan Cuadrado and Alex Sandro, two players whose contracts expire next year. The Colombian’s performances have declined this season and he’s unlikely to be offered a new deal. It’s a similar situation for the Brazilian, who has been sub-standard for several months now.
The Old Lady are still undecided regarding midfielder Leandro Paredes; should the obligation to buy clause not be triggered, Juventus may still decide to keep the Argentinian permanently, but his performances would need to improve in the coming months.
Weston McKennie is likely to leave the Bianconeri in January. Following the return of Paul Pogba, he’s unlikely to find regular minutes in Turin and he’s never particularly convinced Allegri, so an offer of around €20m could be enough to close out a deal.
Finally there’s Moise Kean; the forward’s obligation to buy clause from Everton will be triggered, but the club are still uncertain about whether to keep him or shift him elsewhere.
Allegri to make only one change to his Juventus team against Empoli
Calciomercato reveals he would have fielded the same team, but the injury to Gleison Bremer will force him to replace the Brazilian with Leonardo Bonucci.
It claims that is the only change to be expected, meaning Moise Kean will start ahead of Arkadiusz Milik again.
