Please note that in the screenshots, the message timings have been conveniently removed. These timings are visible in the video she posted and there in lies the catch.
Thomas and her messages are almost simultaneous- all are marked at 1:56. The response of Thomas seems to be between her sentences. It is possible that Thomas’ supposedly incriminating messages (admission of guilt) may have been typed just after the statement where she says that “I have just woke up and what you did was wrong” and not after reading her accusation implying rape.
If you read the later messages (by pausing the video), you find that he keeps denying the rape and saying that he just didn’t wake her up. Also, he implies that she is complaining only after he decided to be with someone else. Now, those are messages he could have typed after realizing he is in trouble. So it isn’t possible to conclude anything from them. But, the very convenient removal of time stamps from the screenshot posted also raises some question-marks on the accuser.
Long story short - this is not cut and dried from any side. It is better to let professionals do their work. If British police can’t charge him, Spanish police can. In fact, they should probably investigate this proactively after the accusations are on twitter now and the alleged crime happened in their jurisdiction. So, let’s wait for the police to charge or not charge him based on the evidences they have gathered rather than make sweeping statements condemning one side or the other.
