Uli Hoeneß, then-general manager of Bayern Munich, later confirmed that Jupp Heynckes was not leaving voluntarily at the end of the 2012-2013 season but was forced out by the club's decision to bring in Pep Guardiola. The club had originally presented Heynckes' departure as his decision to retire upon contract expiration, a narrative contradicted by Hoeneß's admission.
The initial narrative:
Bayern announced that Heynckes would be replaced by Pep Guardiola at the end of the 2012-2013 season, framing it as Heynckes retiring after his contract ended.
Hoeneß's correction:
Uli Hoeneß later admitted that it was not Heynckes' choice to leave.
The true reason:
Hoeneß clarified that the club's desire to appoint Guardiola was the decisive factor in Heynckes' departure.

Ono što znam je da Bayern ne radi povtom principu, dogovor je dogovor pa makar koštalo i 60 M kao u slučaju “ mašine portugalske”ledar je napisao/la: ↑24 sep 2025, 15:24Uli Hoeneß, then-general manager of Bayern Munich, later confirmed that Jupp Heynckes was not leaving voluntarily at the end of the 2012-2013 season but was forced out by the club's decision to bring in Pep Guardiola.
