Arsenal’s first signing nearly official: Gunners agree terms with Aurier

Arsenal could be only a few days away from making their first signing of the season. According to reports in Metro, Serge Aurier has agreed personal terms with the North Londoners and now only an agreement with his current club Toulouse remains to be reached. The news should provide the Gunners with the kind of lift they have been waiting for since the end of last season.
At only 21 years of age, Aurier is Ivory Coast’s first choice right back in the ongoing World Cup. He has been handpicked by Premier league legend and national teammate Didier Drogba as the one player most likely to set the Premier League on fire. He has been playing professional football in France since 2009 and has been described as a full back with exceptional attacking prowess, his defensive acumen though still requires a bit of work.
Arsene Wenger is believed to have made an opening bid of £8 million, the French club is yet to reply. The Gunners are offering five-year contract worth £60,000-a-week to Aurier, which the full back has had no qualms in accepting. The departure of Bacary Sagna has meant that bringing a right back has become a top priority at the Emirates, whether Aurier’s enthusiasm can compensate for Sagna’s experience is a question which can only be answered next season.
