Gary Medel is making a huge impact at Inter

Mateo Kovacic declared him as the ‘Man of the Match’ against Sassuolo, Walter Mazzarri labelled him a ‘fantastic’ player after just one Serie A fixture. The man they call ‘Pitbull’ is making quite the impression during his first few months in Nerazzurro. Mazzarri in fact credited Medel with being the very reason he is able to field two technical and offensive minded midfielders such as Kovacic and Hernanes. The Chilean international had a wonderful World Cup (Playing as a central defender) and has arrived at Inter full of enthusiasm and determination. Having already declare “I want to win a Scudetto with Inter” it is clear that Medel doesn’t carry any of the mental scars some of his colleagues have suffered during three disappointing campaigns. The fans have immediately taken to him and his tenacious efforts to fend off an Atalanta counter attack on Wednesday were greeted with rapturous applause. The feeling is mutual “What’s it like being the Inter fans’ new idol? It’s a really nice feeling. They see and appreciate the effort you put in on the pitch and they pay you back with their support.”

The former Inter & Chilean legend Ivan Zamorano had already sang the praises of Interisti to his fellow countryman over the summer “Ivan Zamorano told me about the amazing support you get in this spectacular stadium. In a telephone interview with DigiSport Special, the Primavera striker George Puscas talked about his current form and his future: “I’m fine with the Primavera, but I’m improving game after game to go to the first team as fast as possible. I already spoke with the coach last year and he told me that if I was serious my turn would come. In the Primavera we’re all great players and we have taken all the points, I hope we can keep this pace. The try-out with Arsenal in 2012 was important for my growth, but then when I got the offer from Inter I spoke with my agent and we decided to go to Milan. Here at Inter I have a contract until 2017 and I hope to stay a long time in Milan. When I was little I had the dream of playing for a top European club and now I have achieved that. Thohir: “Inter adapting to Financial Fair Play”

Inter President and owner Erick Thohir says the club is fully committed to fulfilling UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations. UEFA’s Club Financial Control Body yesterday listed Inter and Roma amog those under investigation as part of Financial Fair Play legislation. It is an aspect that Thohir insists that his club is doing everything necessary to abide by.

“We have focused a lot on this aspect and we are obliged to observe these rules,” Thohir told Sky Sport Italia. “The results with respect to last year are better, not only in terms of the increase in turnover, but also in terms of the reduction of costs. The current reality of football is no longer what it used to be, when you could acquire any player you wanted. It doesn’t work that way anymore. You need to spend only what a club can spend. This is a challenge for us and we need to get used to it. The model from which we take inspiration from is working in other countries like the United States. I think we will be able to follow the UEFA rules and anyway, until now, we are doing well.”

In an interview with La Stampa, Thohir also mentioned strategies that Inter and other Seria A teams could adopt to make the league more attractive and competitive. “We have to render the product of calico more rich in terms of TV rights, diminish the number of teams and, last but not least, have stadiums that are adequate for our needs. With Milan and the other institutions we have brought forward shared strategie which will enable us to improve the San Siro, in 2016 we will host the final of the Champions League, it will be a great privilege.”

Gazzetta dello sport writes about an interesting anecdote that has to do with Inter’s honorary president Massimo Moratti who was the first one to fall in love with Medel’s sporting skills. Mazzarri wants to break his Inter record: never won three games in a row
Zdenek Zeman’s Cagliari comes and visit San Siro when Walter Mazzarri wants to set his Inter record. As the La Gazzetta dello Sport reported, has in fact the coach from San Vincenzo never won three matches in a row in Serie A while sitting on the Nerazzurri bench.

To find the last three straight winning matches we have to go back to autumn 2012 when Stramaccioni had his golden age, and got nine points from Fiorentina, Catania and Sampdoria.
