Everton manager Roberto Martinez says that he never expected Muhamed Besic to have played such a vital role for the team this season.
Martinez spoke very highly of the Bosnian and praised the way that he has adapted to playing English football.
Martinez says that this total is far higher than he was expecting when he was brought to the club last summer.
"Mo Besic is such a big player for us," Martinez said. "He is only 22. I didn't expect him to play 30 games this season, as a young player, coming into the British game. You would expect a little bit of an adaptation period and I think Mo has been phenomenal on that.
"His biggest strength is his character. I love working with Mo and he is going to have a fantastic future with us. It has been a very good first season for Mo and he will be a very important player for us going forward."
Despite Martinez's kind words, Besic has actually been out of favour recently, so he will pleased to hear his manager reassure him of his future at Goodison Park
