Manchester City have reached a €22 million-a-year (£16m) deal with Bayern Munich head coach Pep Guardiola to replace Manuel Pellegrini, according to reports in France.
Rumours of Guardiola joining Manchester City have increased in recent weeks following City’s disappointing performance in the Premier League which sees them on course to finish third.
Reports in France are now suggesting that the richly-owned Citizens have agreed to take Guardiola to the Etihad.
Pep Guardiola has already won the German Bundesliga with games to spare and are virtually eliminated from the UEFA Champions League having been thrashed 3-0 by Barcelona in the first leg of their semi-final during the week.
Whilst there has been some criticism for Guardiola in Germany for not being able to win the Champions League and also being knocked out of the German Cup to their rivals Borussia Dortmund, CSAR find it difficult to believe this story is true.
BeInSports have started the rumours, whilst if any deal was to take place we would have expected German newspaper Bild and some of the English newspapers to have reported the news – none of them have done so.
Guardiola has one year left on his contract at the Allianz Arena. Bayern’s 1-0 loss at home to FC Augsburg today was their third consecutive defeat to nil, all of which came after their penalty shootout loss in the Cup.
Earlier today, Spanish journalist Guillem Balagué rubbished the rumours that the former-Barcelona head coach would join the Premier League side this summer.
Manuel Pellegrini is expected to be replaced as Manchester City manager in the summer.
