Spalletti played Keita for the first 45 minutes when the game was cautious, slow and we were crossing aerially into the box. It would have been Icardi who was better suited to playing as a lone forward in this setting. Of course, in the 2nd half, Spalletti takes out Keita and subs in Icardi when the game has opened up, there's more space, more need for pace and would've arguably suited Keita more.
Candreva was also actually having a decent game and was completely fresh, having only played a few minutes against Bologna and not having gone on international duty. In that sense, there was ZERO need to take him off. Just like the CF situation, it is arguably Politano who should've started - we could've used his brains and his cutting in during the tight first half. It should've been Candreva coming off the bench, just like against Bologna, where his high energy, high paced running was a fresh injection into our attack.
Instead, Spalletti made two of the most absolutely impact-less substitutions I have perhaps ever seen in my life, mismanaging, straight up wasting both his starting lineup and two of his three tactical moves.
ko da sam ja piso. Iduce ljeto ozbiljno razmisljat o promjeni trenera, ako bude neko kvalitetniji na trzistu
As usual, I don't want to hear a fucking thing about refs. At the end of the day, no matter how corrupt a ref or system may or may not be, there is no evil force on the planet that can actually stop us from stringing some good forward passes with some clever off-the-ball movement to create a clear chance, if we were actually capable of such a thing. But, apparently we are not. Apparently Spalletti is so far, unable to rehearse some specific attacking patterns in training to give us a semblance of an attacking plan beyond "give the ball to Perisic". I'm so curious to see what the fuck goes on in our training sessions.
